A Tribute to the 31St Grand National Paso Fino Horse Show

On the final night of the 31st Grand National Paso Fino Horse Show, an enthusiastic audience watched the festivity of the closing flag ceremony. The first horse to enter the arena and lead the ceremony was Reflejo El Classico, the magnificent son of Classico and grandson of Plebeyo. The splendid fino stallion proudly carried Miss Clarissa Schwartz, the 2003 Gold Medal Equitation Grand National Champion and Paso Fino Horse Association Youth of the Year.

Under the steady hands of Clarissa, Reflejo El Classico regally circled the arena with the Paso Fino Horse Association flag held high. With brio and grace he crossed the fino board in perfect collection and gait. He then waited with stately dignity and never moved a muscle, as tribute was paid to the celebrated flags of several countries, including the United States of America.

At the conclusion of the “The Star Spangled Banner,” and during the thunderous ovation of the crowd, Refejo El Classico circled the arena with stated elegance. Once again Relejo El Classico paid tribute to the 31st Grand National Paso Fino Horse Show by brilliantly and beautifully displaying the association flag. As the flag was thrust higher and higher while flowing freely and proudly in the air, Reflejo El Classico closed the ceremony by leading the flags out of the arena.

An Enchanted Evening on Reflejo El Classico 31st Grand National Paso Fino Horse Show

At the 31st Grand National Champion Paso Fino Horse Show I had an enchanted evening I will never forget. It was a dream that came true as I won the Grand National Championship in Gold Medal Equitation. I kept thinking it couldn’t get any better than this! However once I was on the back of Reflejo el Classico, carrying the PFHA Association Flag in the Saturday night flag ceremony, I knew wonderful moments didn’t have to come to an end! Reflejo was sensational! This grand fino stallion was a total gentleman carrying me dignity and grace. The audience was enthralled as he crossed the fino board in perfect form. I had the opportunity to take a short ride on his great father, El Classico de Plebeyo, at the 2002 Nationals. I could feel the same power exhibited by his son, Reflejo el Classico. Just when I thought this unforgettable evening was coming to an end, I was asked to enter the arena on Reflejo El Classico once again. To my total and complete surprise, I was presented with the 2003 Paso Fino Horse Association Youth of the Year Award! During the ceremony, Reflejo el Classico stood perfectly still as though he was paying tribute to my honor. As I circled the arena the crowd erupted in applause once again enthralled with the beauty and talent of Reflejo El Classico! I offer my special thanks to Mr. Charles Rondeau for allowing me to spend this special evening with his magnificent fino stallion, Reflejo el Classico!

I’m attending College at the University of Wisconsin and am returning to campus with many fond memories of the 2003 Nationals. During the 2004 show season I will be moving to Amateur Owner status. I’m looking forward to competing in several shows and spending time with my friends. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to my youth career and I look forward to showing with you for many years to come.
